The Hattiesburg community will be participating in this year's Point-In-Time (PIT) Count, along with volunteers from local Pine Belt agencies and non-profit organizations. They will be offering toiletry packages and resource guides to street homeless individuals and sheltered persons. If you see our volunteers working in your area, we ask that you please help them by giving advice on homelessness in your neighborhood and community. If you have any questions regarding the count, please visit www.msbos.org/pit.
Who do we count? Sheltered (emergency shelter, transitional housing clients, or hotel/motels paid for by non-profit organizations) and Unsheltered (living in a place not meant for human habitation)
How do I volunteer or arrange for others to volunteer for the PIT Count? Please email rglenn@msbos.org, and we will arrange for quick (3-4 minute) follow-up call. For more HUD information concerning the Point-In-Time Count visit HUD's Resource Site, www.hudexchange.info.
